Holistic Help and Healing for Women Beyond and Before Trafficking

Residents of the ministry’s Nashville, Tennessee, home.

By Carl Stagner

In 2014, the Church of God reengaged in a more than one hundred-year battle against sex trafficking through the launch of Trafficklight. In the years since, individuals and congregations have rallied for the cause, raising awareness and funds to advance freedom. Stories have illuminated the hand of God on this initiative across North America and around the world, and partnerships have been developed and promoted with ministries doing the grunt work on the ground. The work of a parachurch ministry known as Mercy Multiplied has captured the attention of many in the fight for freedom. It’s not only helping young women break free of destructive situations—like trafficking and abuse—but also from a wide variety of destructive behaviors. Continue reading

Immersion. Often in the church, the word is used to describe the ordinance of baptism. For Christian Women Connection, formerly known as Women of the Church of God, immersion means so much more. Immersion Trips, an integral part of CWC’s ministry since 2005, have made it possible for Christian women to go deeper in their walk with Christ through annual, firsthand mission experiences. The Church of God Women’s Convention, Waves of Grace, was held in October in Daytona Beach, Florida. Women came from around the world to attend, from countries such as Canada, St. Kitts and Nevis, Bermuda, New Zealand, Uganda, Kenya, Micronesia, Sri Lanka, and Trinidad and Tobago. As attendees entered the resort, we were greeted by God’s creation beautifully on display through ocean waves. As women gathered for the opening worship service, the National Council and National Board members were honored. Leslie Parker Barnes and the praise team led us in a meaningful worship experience. We were ushered into the presence of the Lord together, and began experiencing a great time of fellowship, worship, and inspiration. Continue reading

Waves of Grace: Church of God Women’s Convention 2014

The ocean sends wave after wave upon the sand. Sometimes, at low tide, the waves are farther out, and other times, during high tide, the waves consume the beach. The waves are a constant; they will reach the sand. So it is with God’s grace. As the scripture reads, “From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace” (John 1:16 NRSV). Just as the sand can count on wave after wave of water, we can count on wave after wave of God’s grace.

Join Christian Women Connection and women from around the United States and the world as we gather in Daytona Beach, Florida, to experience God’s Waves of Grace at the Church of God Women’s Convention. This is an event you won’t want to miss.

The convention is October 30–November 2, 2014, in Daytona Beach, Florida, at the Hilton Oceanfront Resort. Continue reading
