Women-in-Ministry Support Expands as CWC Assumes Leadership of Qara

From its inception, the Church of God movement has been an advocate for gender equity, seating and celebrating both women and men in all chairs of ministry and church leadership. This theology and practice are grounded in a deep vein of Scripture which elevates both men and women as the imago dei. At the dawn of the New Testament church, the apostle Peter quotes the prophet Joel, saying, “In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants—men and women alike—and they will prophesy” (Acts 2:18 NLT). For the better part of two decades, Andy Stephenson and Debbie Taylor have served the Church of God movement with excellence and integrity. Under the leadership of Andy Stephenson, for example, the International Youth Convention has flourished, and because of Debbie Taylor’s diligent formation of ministry partnerships, the Church of God has launched missionaries into all the world. This year, they both responded to the Spirit leading them to new ministry settings and opportunities. As 2018 comes to a close, it is with mixed emotion that Church of God Ministries announces a shift in the seasons of ministry for these two ministry assets. Continue reading

General Director Designate Announced

The Ministries Council of the Church of God is proud to present Rev. Jim Lyon to the General Assembly as the General Director Designate and candidate for ratification. Throughout his ministry, Rev. Lyon has demonstrated his love for God’s church. He is a faithful servant who has always been willing to employ unconventional means in order to reach those who are powerless and voiceless in a hurting world.
