Partnership with Children of Promise Extends Trafficklight 2.0 Reach

By Paul Maxfield

Children of Promise is partnering with Church of God Ministries in Trafficklight 2.0 to prevent child trafficking for our Church of God children across the globe. We are praying that every congregation will engage in this effort through sponsoring children—which is the most effective way to protect our children and prevent their involvement in child trafficking. I want to share more helpful information as to why Children of Promise is engaging in Trafficklight. 2.0. It is urgent. Continue reading

The last four months may have been a blur, but Pink Door is up and running. We welcomed our first recovery program participant on January 20, so these first weeks have been filled with doctor appointments, visits to German governmental offices, psych evaluations, language evaluations, teaching her how to shop, cook, clean, and use public transportation. It’s amazing how many life skills are never developed when someone is reduced to less-than-human status, abused, abandoned, and forgotten. It’s a miracle how these women blossom when given a chance at a new life. So, we’re off and running with perseverance the race marked out for us, never alone, often exhausted, but always encouraged and reminded daily of your sacrifice that has made Pink Door a reality—never taking for granted the great privilege it is to join God in his mission of reconciliation. OneHeart: Rescuing and Restoring Victims of Sex Trafficking

By Donna Cox

One night on an outreach, as we were serving plates of food, a young woman stopped eating, put her head down on the counter, and started weeping uncontrollably. I sat beside her as a gift of a praying presence until, between her sobs, she found her words. Brenda’s* story began to unfold.

Brenda had been evicted from her apartment. Her mother had taken the car she was living in, and both her mother and grandmother are addicted to drugs and prostitute themselves. She is providing for her two-year-old son, and she is pregnant. At twenty-one years old, Brenda found out she was pregnant a second time, shortly after the delivery of her first child. Her mother paid for her to have an abortion. Now pregnant a third time, Brenda was considering a second abortion at the insistence of the baby’s father. She had just shared that she was pregnant with him and “he said she was an inconvenience.” Continue reading

Opportunity: Visit the Shelter, See God’s Fingerprints Everywhere

On the east coast of India is the city of Cuttack, where the Church of God established an orphanage for girls in 1914. The girls came from a variety of backgrounds. Many sources tell harrowing tales of girls being physically removed from Hindu temples, where their futures were very uncertain. Christians literally saved the girls’ lives and gave them a future. Continue reading
