AU Biblical Languages Professor Removes Barriers to Learning

Two years ago, Church of God Ministries celebrated through a CHOGnews article the remarkable kingdom contributions of a blind minister to scholarly Bible study. Already awarded by the National Federation of the Blind, Sarah LaRose never set out to be recognized. This AU School of Theology and Christian Ministry professor had contributed to the improvement of tools commonly used by visually impaired persons to read documents, including the Bible. In the past two years, her love for ancient languages and her love for the Word of God have inspired her to continue doing as much as possible to remove barriers for the blind. One of her most recent accomplishments was translating the two-thousand-page Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew-English dictionary into braille, resulting in eighty braille volumes. Continue reading

Rev. Dr. MaryAnn Hawkins, Church of God (Anderson) has been chosen to serve a three-year term as the new president of Wesleyan Holiness Women Clergy. Hawkins, a member of the Wesleyan Holiness Women Clergy board of directors since 2008, is a professor of intercultural studies and associate dean at Anderson University School of Theology. God Particle Contributor-MACU Physics Chair Receives Speaking Honor

Mid-America Christian University (MACU) Physics Chairman Dr. Rahmat Rahmat was recently selected as the distinguished guest at the banquet for the Arkansas-Oklahoma-Kansas chapter of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) fall meeting. Established in 1930, the AAPT is an organization that is designed to unite physics teachers, expand valuable knowledge and overall improve physics education. Dr. Rahmat is most recognized for his work and contributions on the discovery of the God particle in 2012, hailed as the most powerful particle accelerator on the planet. The God particle was the last undiscovered subatomic particle and three years later, physicists are still hard at work on unraveling the workings of this phenomenal discovery. Dr. Rahmat’s dedication to the discovery of this led to his nomination for a Nobel Prize in 2013. Continue reading

James Lewis to be Installed as AU School of Theology Dean

Anderson University and the Anderson University School of Theology will conduct a special service of installation for Dr. James W. Lewis as the eighth dean of the School of Theology, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. The installation service will be held in Park Place Church of God with a reception immediately following at the church. The public is invited to attend. Dr. Lewis succeeds Dr. David Sebastian who served as dean of the School of Theology since 1995 until his retirement in July, 2014. Continue reading
