The Church of God movement is one born out of a devout commitment to telling the ongoing story of how God is at work among his people. The Church of God is in the business of changing the world around them by making Jesus the subject, and by demonstrating the love of Christ, just as Jesus did. From the Archives: Doctrine Builds Strong Churches

Jesus was a strong “doctrinal preacher.” From his inaugural text, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matt 4:17), to the consummation of his ministry in Pilate’s judgment hall when he said, “My kingdom is not of this world” (John 18:36), our Lord proclaimed doctrine. The kingdom was a choice theme, and numerous parables depict its spiritual nature in contrast to a materialistic or political dominion. Repeatedly, the Gospels record, “The people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught as one having authority, and not as the scribes” (Matt 7:28–29*). Continue reading

MACU Dedicates Residence Hall in Honor of Lillie McCutcheon

Mid-America Christian University (MACU) faculty/staff, students, stakeholders and local leaders participated in a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony for the newest 40,000-square-foot residence hall on Wednesday, October 21.

“It is truly exciting to name a facility [on our campus] in honor of Dr. Lillie McCutcheon; her life’s work is a true reflection of our foundation and vision. She had a profound dedication to Christ and selfless love for his people. Though she had many titles—from national figure, author, radio/television personality, beloved pastor to powerful lecturer—it was her unique ability to enlighten, strengthen and charge women and men for Christian service that earned her tremendous respect. Dr. McCutcheon left a legacy of leadership. May we all strive to influence people for Christ as she did,” said Mid-America president, Dr. John Fozard. Continue reading
