Servant Solutions’ Doug Hamlin Honored for 41 Years of Service

Pastors in the Church of God know how instrumental Servant Solutions has been to their ministry. From pensions to financial planning to ministerial tax information and investments, the staff have always been about “serving those who serve.” Only one, however, has been faithful to this task for forty-one years. Doug Hamlin has given oversight to the accounting process and daily operations of Servant Solutions—formerly the Board of Pensions—since 1975. For exemplary servant leadership over a remarkable career of ministry to ministers, the retiring Doug Hamlin was honored with a ceremony at Madison Park Church of God on the concluding evening of the three-day Anderson Regional Convention and CHOG Table experience. God’s Perfect Timing: Honoring the Life of Daniel N’Goran

God’s timing is always perfect. Even when we do not understand it at the time, it is always perfect. Even halfway around the world (as I am as I write this in Côte d’Ivoire), it is always perfect.

Over a year ago, our missionaries Larry and LeAnn Sellers invited me to return to Côte d’Ivoire to teach another group of Ivorian Pastors at the West Africa Bible Institute. Our partnership with the Ivorian church has grown extensively over the last eighteen years. People and pastors from East Side Church of God have provided work camps, funding, and teaching. Pastors from Côte d’Ivoire have visited East Side on three occasions over the last decade. My returning to teach a class this September was simply another link in the chain that connects our congregation to the congregations of this West African nation. But God had other plans, perfect plans with incredible timing. Continue reading

AU Holds Camp Meeting for Students

On a crisp Thursday evening in April, camp meeting returned to the grounds where Warner Auditorium once stood. It wasn’t the North American Convention of the Church of God, but there were students from all over the country. The marquees along State Route 9 in Anderson didn’t say, “Welcome, Church of God,” but Church of God congregations from far beyond Anderson were represented. The calendar did not display holidays such as Flag Day and Father’s Day, but there were tents and vendors. Anderson University had reenacted a Church of God camp meeting for students, and it was an experience that left participants with anticipation for the upcoming Global Gathering. Continue reading
