Church on the Street to Host Reconciliation and Justice Academy

In 2013, the Global Gathering of the Church of God held its Global Forum on the subject of reconciliation. In 2014, Church of God Convention attendees were introduced to a form in which reconciliation could be lived out—in awareness and action concerning human trafficking. This May, the Church of God has an opportunity to dig deeper into what it means to be reconciled to God and neighbor. Church of the Street in Atlanta, Georgia, will host the Reconciliation and Justice Academy, May 11–15. Not just another conference, this experience is designed to be a weeklong intensive for those who really want to join with the most vulnerable among us to collectively develop the heart and habits of our Lord Jesus Christ. James Lewis to be Installed as AU School of Theology Dean

Anderson University and the Anderson University School of Theology will conduct a special service of installation for Dr. James W. Lewis as the eighth dean of the School of Theology, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. The installation service will be held in Park Place Church of God with a reception immediately following at the church. The public is invited to attend. Dr. Lewis succeeds Dr. David Sebastian who served as dean of the School of Theology since 1995 until his retirement in July, 2014. Continue reading

AU’s Dr. James Lewis: MLK Sought Equal Education For All

Anderson and Madison County should work together to bring educational opportunities to all residents of the community, was the message of Dr. James Lewis during the annual celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Throughout his lifetime and during his fight for civil rights in America, King stressed that we are all tied together in a shared destiny.

Lewis, the keynote speaker at the Paramount Theatre on Monday, is the dean-elect of the School of Theology at Anderson University. From the day we are all born we are dependent on the gifts that others bring into our lives, he said. Continue reading

AU Appoints New Dean for School of Theology

Dr. James L. Edwards, president of Anderson University, recently announced the appointment of Dr. James Lewis to serve as the next dean of the Anderson University School of Theology, beginning July 1, 2014. Lewis will succeed Dr. David Sebastian upon his retirement. Sebastian has served as dean of the School of Theology since 1995. Continue reading

Lewis Article Lends Perspective to Dictionary of Scripture and Ethics

Dr. James Lewis, associate dean and professor of theology and ethics at the Anderson University School of Theology, has contributed his knowledge and research on ethics and African-American history to a recent publication, the Dictionary of Scripture and Ethics. Published in December 2011, the Dictionary is a compilation of articles and essays that address the issue of how Scripture should impact everyday ethical issues. Continue reading
