As a part of Mid-America Christian University’s monthly E-Club lunch series for athletics supporters, local football legends Dick Soergel and Russell Perry held a Q&A session on March 29 at MACU’s campus in south Oklahoma City. In 1955, Soergel and Perry broke racial barriers when they quarterbacked opposing high school teams—Capitol Hill and Douglass—in the state’s first integrated football game. Continue reading

The Church of God in the U.S. Celebrates Thanksgiving

In the Church of God in the United States, Thursday, November 24, 2016, will not just be another day to stay home from work. While many must clock in on Thanksgiving Day, others who don’t have to are choosing not to sleep in, kick back on the sofa, and watch football all day. Instead, they’re choosing to give back. Ephesians 2:10 is written on the tablet of their hearts, and their appetite for serving others is greater than their appetite for turkey and all the trimmings. They understand that thankfulness and giving go hand-in-hand, and that such values must not be restricted to the fourth Thursday in November. Nevertheless, in worship, in teaching, in good works, and in fellowship, the Church of God loves to celebrate Thanksgiving. Continue reading

NFL Star Coaches at Warner University

Dallas Baker—“The Touchdown Maker”—sound familiar? You don’t have to be a Florida Gator fan to know who I’m talking about. Former captain of the University of Florida Gators football team, helping to win a National Championship, and then NFL Super Bowl champ, Dallas Baker is now the wide receiver coach at Warner University. Since joining the Warner team in July 2015, Baker has moved to Lake Wales, Florida, and taken the role at Warner on full-steam. Baker attributes the Lord bringing him to the Church of God college. EndZone: A “Fifth Quarter” Ministry of First Church, Tallmadge, Ohio

A ministry program for Tallmadge Middle School and High School students after the high school’s home football games on Fridays is continuing to grow. “EndZone, Tallmadge Fifth Quarter,” a program of First Church of God in Tallmadge, Ohio, takes place at the church after all of the high school’s home football games from 8:30 PM to 11:45 PM. Football Coming to Warner University in 2013


Warner University President Greg Hall is pleased to announce that football is coming to Warner University. Athletic Director Kevin Jones made the official announcement on Tuesday afternoon alongside newly appointed head coach Jeff Schaum. Warner will begin season competition in the fall of 2013.
